Paver Cleaning, Re-Sanding & Optional Sealing

Three distinct parts of the job, explained in your estimate. You don’t have to purchase all three.

Paver cleaning

Address dirt, organic buildup and suitable stains with preparation matched to the material and its condition.

Polymeric re-sanding

Where suitable, remove failed joint material, prepare the joints and install compatible polymeric sand to the product’s requirements.

Compatible sealing

Consider a suitable sealer after checking the paver type, old coatings, joint material and the appearance you prefer.

Cleaning Alone Doesn’t Rebuild Worn Joints

Freshly washed pavers can still have empty gaps, crumbling sand and places where debris collects. Joint restoration tackles the material between the pavers so the whole area looks more finished.

River City Pressure Washing assesses the paver surface, joint condition and drainage before recommending cleaning, polymeric re-sanding or compatible sealing.

Sand isn’t a fix for settlement.

Loose or sunken pavers, failing edges and drainage problems need separate repair. We identify those limits before joint work is scoped.

Care for the Joints. Choose Your Finish.

Joint restoration and sealing do different jobs. Your estimate explains the preparation, suitable materials and finish options for your paving.

Restore suitable paver joints

Where suitable, failed joint material is removed and replaced with compatible polymeric sand. Preparation, joint depth, compaction, residue removal and activation all matter—not just the final sweep.

Permeable pavers need a different approach.

Tell us if your paving is designed to let water drain through the joints. We verify the system before recommending joint material.

Consider sealing and finish options

You don’t need a wet, glossy look to have a well-kept patio. Choose the appearance you like, then confirm what your surface can accept.

Keep a natural appearance

Consider an unsealed finish or a compatible natural-look sealer with limited color change.

A compatible color-enhancing or satin finish may suit some pavers. Existing coatings and slip considerations affect the choice.

A Clear Scope Before Work Begins

River City Pressure Washing assesses the surface and installation before recommending joint work or sealing.

Your estimate separates cleaning, re-sanding and optional sealing so you know which parts of the project are included.

Ask about your pavers

Material and joint condition

Paver type, joint width and depth, remaining sand and previous sealer help determine the approach.

Movement and drainage

Leveling, base or drainage repairs, edge-restraint repairs and paver replacement are excluded from this service.

Access and weather

Share access needs and areas that must stay usable. Drying and curing may require separate visits.

Surface and finish compatibility

Old coatings, the selected joint material and your preferred appearance affect whether sealing is suitable.

How We Restore Paver Joints

Assess the installation

Identify paver material, joint width and depth, previous sealer, drainage and whether the system is permeable.

Prepare without cutting corners

Agree on cleaning and joint removal, protect adjacent areas and allow the drying conditions the chosen products require.

Rebuild suitable joints

Install, compact, clear residue and activate the selected material as specified. Sweeping sand across the top is only one stage.

Finish with a care plan

Apply sealing only if included and compatible. Confirm when the area can reopen and how to maintain it.

Preparing for Service & Caring for Your Pavers

Before your service

  • Share a wide photo and a close view of the joints if you can.
  • Point out loose pavers, standing water and previous sealing.
  • Arrange access and clear furniture as agreed in your scope.
  • Tell us about irrigation and areas that must remain accessible.

After joint restoration

  • Follow the project’s reopening and irrigation instructions.
  • Keep people, pets, furniture and vehicles off until permitted.

Rain, cool weather and surface moisture can change the schedule. Drying and curing may require separate visits.

Paver Joint Restoration FAQs

Not sure which condition you’re seeing? Start with a photo and a free estimate request.

No. Cleaning addresses dirt, organic buildup and suitable stains on the surface. Joint restoration addresses failed or missing material between the pavers. A patio may need one service or both; your estimate will separate the work.

A thin top-up over failed material is not a reliable restoration. We assess the remaining joint material and the depth required by the selected product. Where replacement is suitable, failed material is removed without intentionally disturbing the bedding beneath the pavers.

Existing growth and debris are addressed within the agreed preparation scope. Correctly installed joint material can help limit weed growth, but seeds and organic debris can collect again. No treatment makes a patio permanently weed-free.

No. Movement, settlement, failed edges or standing water may point to problems beneath or around the pavers. Leveling, base and drainage work, edge-restraint repairs and paver replacement are excluded from this service. Those conditions need to be resolved before suitable joint work proceeds.

No. Cleaning and suitable joint restoration can be scoped without sealing. Sealing is considered separately for your paver material, existing coating, preferred appearance and use of the area.

That depends on the product and the surface. Some sealers retain a more natural appearance; others deepen color or add sheen. We discuss compatible options and a test area before including a finish in your scope. Worn color and deep stains may remain.

Drying, temperature and rain requirements vary with the joint material, sealer and installation. Work may require separate visits. We provide project-specific instructions for walking, furniture, pets, irrigation and vehicles; rain-safe does not automatically mean ready for use.

Please tell us. Permeable systems rely on their specified open joints and aggregate to let water through. Standard polymeric sand is not the default replacement. The installed system and its maintenance requirements must be verified before a scope is offered.

Keep leaves, soil and debris from collecting in the joints, clean spills promptly with a suitable method, and follow the selected product’s care directions. Avoid aggressive washing that removes joint material. Arrange an assessment if sand erodes, pavers move or the finish changes.

Tell us what needs attention.

Start with your location and the condition of the pavers. We’ll review the details and discuss suitability, scope and next steps.

  • A wide photo and a close view of the joints are useful.
  • Approximate area is helpful, but not required to start.
  • Tell us about old sealer, loose pavers or standing water.
  • For managed properties, mention access and closure needs.
